Learning and development

Learning and development have always been integral to the WI. As well as offering a range of courses at our adult residential centre, Denman, we also provide training and courses specifically for WI members.

WI roles

WI members can undertake a range of roles, either for the NFWI or in their federation. These include:

  • WI Advisers – responsible for forming, suspending and closing WIs, as well as making sure members are aware of the opportunities available to them within the WI.
  • NFWI JudgesLaser Learning Award (LLA) qualified judges with sound technical knowledge in specific areas such as cookery, preservation, craft, floral art and staging and interpretation. Judges work to educate entrants in order to improve the standard of show entries.

To find out more about these roles please contact your Federation Secretary or the NFWI Unit on 01865 391788.

Denman offers a wealth of opportunities to learn new skills on day schools and short courses covering cookery, craft and lifestyle. There's a Denman course for every interest, from curries, cakes and crochet to papercutting, photography and Pilates. Everyone is welcome – men and women, members and non-members, beginners and more accomplished practitioners. Discover the range of courses on offer at Denman.
