Wednesday 4 March - Get Crafty at The Mill Shop, Daventry

The Mill Shop at Daventry have kindly agreed to host this event, in conjunction with 'Shed loads of colour'. The day will be a chance to sample up to 4 different fabric based crafts. There will also be a talk on interior design and a goody bag for everyone. This venue is not normally open to the public but does a lot of work with craft television channels. Application form with your Secretary. Ticket allocation date Monday 6 January.

Saturday 7 March - Spring Walk in the Stowe Park area
10am start  5 miles 
Meet at the National Trust Visitor Centre for Stowe Park, Buckingham. This varied and interesting walk uses public footpaths and bridleways to circumnavigate Stowe Park. A number of buildings and statues in the park and the house itself are visible from the path. There are magnificent views over the vale of Buckingham.  NT membership is not needed in order to use the facilities at the Visitors' Centre. However, non-members will need to pay £2 for all day parking.  This path is actually in  Northamptonshire. See newsletter for contact details.

Friday 20 March - Spring Coffee Morning
WI House 10-12 noon
Members, and non members, can look forward to getting together in excellent company at WI House for a good chat and catch-up at our first  coffee morning of 2020.The usual raffle and Denman Dip along with Enterprises Stall will be available.There will also be a hands-on demonstration table where you will have the chance to learn a new craft and perhaps buy some kits or ready-made articles. No ticket required. Just turn up on the morning. You will be made most welcome. For £3 you will receive coffee/tea and cake, with free fill-ups for instant coffee and tea. What a bargain!

Saturday 21 March - Faberdashery Sale
10am to 3pm  Denman College
This is a fabulous Faberdashery Sale with bargains of all kinds of craft materials. Tea/coffee also available. Bring your own picnic. A good way to see Denman and enjoy some retail therapy.

Saturday 28 March - Easter Box of Delights
WI House   10am to 4pm
At this workshop you will be making sweets, truffles, chocolates and the box in which to put them.  Ticket allocation was 6 January but please contact WI House if interested to see if there are still places. Everything you require for making the boxes and the delicious contents will be supplied - just bring along a rolling pin, a small, one if possible.

Monday 30 March - Annual Meeting & Resolution Briefing Conference
WI House  7pm to 9pm  Members Only
Have you been chosen as a delegate to go to the National Annual Meeting in the Royal Albert Hall on 4 June? or would you like to learn more about the chosen topics? Come along to hear expert speakers. For those attending as delegates, you will be given more details of the two days in London.

Tuesday 31 March - Walking Tour of Wren Churches
Ian Porter, the guide for our previous Suffragettes walking tour will be our guide again on this day. Ian will be taking you through the City of London and further afield to see the lesser known but still superb Christopher Wren Churches, some from the inside and some from the outside. The application form is with your Secretary, enclosed with the November newsletter. Ticket allocation date 13 January 2020.

Saturday 18 April - New Members Event
Glapthorn Village Hall   10am to 12 noon   Members Only
Are you new to the WI? Would you like to know more about our organisation? If so, do come along to Glapthorn Villae Hall and meet with local members and members of the Membership & Training sub-committee who will be there to answer questions and have a relaced chat with other new members. If you live in the south of the county and don't want to travel up to Glapthorn, do keep an eye on your newsletter, as we shall be arranging another new members event in the not too distant future.  Ticket allocation date Monday 17 February 2020.

Thursday 23 April - Afternoon Tea at Barnwell
2pm to 4pm  Members only

Barnwell is a very pretty village near Oundle. It is well worth exploring before enjoying a delicious tea.  Our speaker, Ian Addis, has a wealth of fascinating information on Charles Wicksteed, who was a man of vision, an engineer, and his vision to create a park where local people and children could spend their leisure time. Wicksteed Park opened in 1921 making it the oldest theme park on the Uk mainland. This is sure to be an interesting afternoon, spent with friends and enjoying a delicious tea,  Application form with your secretary. Saturday 25 April - Rag Rug Technique workshop
WI House - 10.30 to 12.30pm
The ultimate eco friendly craft. Rag rugging is an old skill that has been used for hundreds of years to turn old, unwanted textiles into hard-wearing, decorative rugs. It requires every few tools and once the basic technique is learnt, there are no limits to the variety of items you can make - cushions, tea cosies, wall hangings, chair pads and more. Application form is with your secretary. Ticket allocation 3 February 2020.

Tuesday 28 April - Day Visit to The Olympic Park
Spend the day at the Olympic Park, East London. On arrival you may choose to take one of the many tours on offer or just explore the park at your own pace. Application form is with your secretary. Ticket allocation date Monday 10 February 2020.

Saturday 16 May - How Green in your Garden?
Gardening with climate change
(remember recently no rain, then too much!)
Greens Norton Community Centre - 11am to 3.30pm
Includes coffee, lunch and tea. This interesting day will offer a range of activities to  interest everyone, including expert speakers,workshops, plant sales and swops, a free raffle and quiz. This event will help us plan for the future. Application form with your secretary. Ticket allocation date 9 March 2020.

Tuesday 26 May - Chipping Camden and Sezincote House (a return visit)
As many members who applied for tickets to go on the outing last May were unable to do so, we have arranged a return visit. Those who were balloted out will be contacted via their Secretary and will have priority regarding tickets. Sezincote is an interesting and different stately home. The house is still owned and lived in by the Peake family who have maintained the delightful gardens.The guided tour of the house is exclusively for us. Further details and application form in your newsletter. Ticket allocation date 2 March 2020.

Monday 22 June - Visit to Grimsthorpe Castle
The ticket price includes coach, a one hour tour of the parklands including refreshments on arrival and an afternoon tour of approx. one hour of the Castle. There will also be time to explore the gardens and visit the tearooms if you so wish. The Castle has been occupied by the same family for over 500 years. The parkland was extensively planted with ancient oak and chestnut trees in the 17th century and covers some 3000 acres. The architect was Sir John Vanbrugh who was also the architect for Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard.  Ticket allocation dated Monday 6 April.

Wednesday 19 August - Day Trip to Sudeley Castle
We have a wonderful day in store when we  travel through the glorious scenery of the Cotswolds for a day at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, which has royal connections dating back 1000 years.There will be much to see in the Castle with treasures dating back to Roman times, ten beautiful gardens and the chapel where Katherine Parr lies.  Ticket Allocation date Monday 11 May.
