Friday 6 December 2019 - Flicknic - A Christmas Story
Venue:Derbyshire House
Time: 1.00 pm - 3.30 pm
Cost: £3.00 - pay on the door
Please bring your own packed lunch to eat before the performance starts - tea and coffee provided

Sunday 8 December 2019 - Federation Christmas Carol Service
Venue:Central Methodist Church, Saltergate, Chesterfield S40 1UH
Time:2.30 pm
Light refreshments will be served after the service
The church is easy reach of both the bus and train stations

Tuesday 10 December 2019 - Christmas at Chatsworth
Venue: Chatsworth House
Time: Drinks at 7.00 pm in the Painted Hall
Followed by a self guided tour of the festively decorated North Wing
Two Course Festive Dinner at 8.15 pm in the Carriage House Restaurant
Carriages at 10.30 pm
Cost: £37. 50

Venue: Derbyshire House 
Time: 2.30 pm to 4.30pm
Cost: £5.00 - tickets from choir members or on the door
Christmas festive songs with  mincepies and wine

Friday 7 February 2020 - Flicknic Downton Abbey
Venue: Derbyshire House, Sherwin Street, Derby DE22 1GP
Time: 12.30 pm for a 1.00 pm start
Cost: £3.00 to include tea, coffee and biscuits
Bring along your picnic lunch - no need to book

Tuesday 17 March 2020 - Spring Council Meeting
Main Speaker - Jenni Bond  Royal Correspondant, Broadcaster and reporter
Morming Speaker: Nikki Leach - Modern Slavery
Venue: The Winding Wheel Chesterfield
Time: 11.00 am - 4,00 pm
Cost:£14.00 per person

Saturday 21 March 2020 - Sewing for the terrified
Event: Make your own tote bag in a day
Tutor: Kate Morris
Venue: Doveholes Community Centre SK17 8DU
Time: 10.00am – 3.00pm
Cost: £30 - please send cheque payable to DFWI along with a self addressed stsmped enveleope
You will need to bring along your own sewing machine and packed lunch - tea coffee and biscuits are provided:

Overnight Taster at Denman on 14 and 15 April 2020.
Cost, including coach travel: £175.approx
This will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has not been before to see the amazing experience Denman has to offer. Places will initially be allocated to “first timers” but we know that some members will go to Denman at every chance!
Full details are included in the mailing to WIs this month so please ask your Secretary for copies or check DFWI website/Noticeboard.
Closing date will be the end of September 2019 so don’t hesitate too long to apply.

Save the Date!!! - 2020 Annual Quiz – Thursday 30 April 2020

Cruise & Maritime – British Isles Discovery Cruise
Departs from Liverpool on 2nd September 2020
(This cruise will be open to members, friends and family)
It is over 2 years since we organised a holiday but we could not resist this one for our members, friends and family.
13 nights cruise aboard Megallan calling at ports in England, France, Scottish Isles and Ireland.
Coach transfers commencing and ending in Derbyshire.
All inclusive costs including gratuities and porterage.
Full board plus afternoon tea and late night snacks.
Entertainment on board.
Prices per person vary from a twin inside cabin - £1279 up to a Twin Outside Superior plus - £2059. Single accommodation also available.
A refundable deposit of £150 made payable to DFWI is required to secure your cabin. (Please use the usual DFWI application form) This is a special price that cannot be held indefinitely.

DFWI Federation Sub Committee Events – please note that when applying for an event you will not receive any tickets or acknowledgements of your application until after the closing date, which is stated on the advert for that particular event from the sub committee running it.

Kurling

Why not try and organise your own Kurling event, it's great fun and everyone can play regardless of age or physical ability. All the necessary equipment is available for hire and detailed information on how to play, these documents can be found on the Federation Downloads page.

TheSherWIn Singers meet regularly at Derbyshire House to sing together. Members ofthe Choir come from a number of WIs across Derby and South Derbyshire. For more information join The SherWIn Singers Facebook page or you wouldlike to join the Choir please contact Mary Denise on 01283 585884.

When applying for any event please use the General Application form and carry out the following:

  • Please include the names of all participants and include a stamped addressed envelope for each event.
  • If you are sending an application for more than one event please send in separate cheques for each event and also an A5 sized stamped addressed envelope.
